Join Room to Read’s Chicago chapter for pizza and beer at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria this August!

For every Piece beer or soft drink you purchase between 6 and 9 p.m., Piece will donate $1 to Room to Read — and for every dollar we raise, Room to Read can buy one book for children in developing countries.

Whether you’re looking to get more involved with Room to Read, want to learn more about what we do, or just want to toss back a few beers for a good cause, this is the event for you. First-timers to Room to Read events are especially encouraged to attend.

We suggest a $10 donation at the door, which automatically enters you in our raffle for prizes. 100% of your donation goes to Room to Read.

We are asking JET Program participants past and present, as well as other friends of the program to speak out and petition the Japanese government to reconsider the cuts.  Please sign this petition in support of the grassroots cultural exchange the JET Program has fostered and write directly to the Japanese government explaining the positive impact the Program has made in your life and that of your adopted Japanese community.

Be sure to add your JET placement (ALT/CIR/SEA and City/Prefecture, or “Friend of JET” in the petition letter below).  This is not just any ordinary petition.  We have been told by contacts in the Japanese government that feedback from JETs and JET alumni will be taken seriously when considering these matters.

Also, what we’re ordering MUST be communicated to the restaurant by the 8th, so please check out the menu from the website and give us your food requests in your RSVP! If we don’t have your RSVP for headcount and food requests by the 8th, you won’t be reserved for!

JETAA has their very own team for the upcoming Players Sports Group Beach Volleyball tournament, “The Jet Setters!”

The team may have as many substitute players as we want! So come to Montrose Beach and play/cheer along!

Montrose Beach has free parking along Simonds Drive in front.

The tournament will be EVERY THURSDAY for 8 weeks, not including playoffs, with games starting between 6:30-7:30 PM.

It’s NOT A PROBLEM if you can’t make every Thursday, we’d love to have you there to represent JET!

The first game of the tournament is THIS THURSDAY, June 17th.

If you can’t make this first game that also it NOT A PROBLEM, however the final team roster must be finalized after the third week of play. So if not this week, come next!

JETAA Chicago is planning an afternoon trip to Mitsuwa on Sunday, May 23, 1:00PM to 7:00PM!

Come have lunch and re-stock on anything from Pocari Sweat and Gatsby Goop. If you’ve never been, please come and familiarize yourself with your new favorite store!

JETAA will arrange for carpooling to Mitsuwa. The meeting time will be at Mitsuwa at 1:00 PM, inside at the main entranceway. Once all together, we will have lunch at the Mitsuwa food court.

JETAA would like to form teams for recreational summer sports!!

However, before we sign up for anything, we must get an idea of which sports our members would like to participate in.

Through the Chicago Sports and Social Club, there’s a wide variety of tournaments available starting as early as the beginning of next month.
Such tournaments as:

Beach Volleyball – 2 vs. 2; 4 vs. 4; and 6 vs. 6
Kickball – 10 vs. 10
Soccer – 8 vs. 8; 11 vs. 11
Softball – 10 vs. 10
